The villa was built in 1912 by Károly Kernstok, one of the most famous painters of the Hungarian avant-garde, and renovated in 2022. Considered one of the most famous painters of the Hungarian avant-garde, Károly Kernstok was one of the leading figures of the group of artists known as the Eight. In his villa, members of the Hungarian art scene such as Árpád Feszty, Endre Ady and Béla Czóbel visited. During the Soviet Republic, Kernstok’s art school operated here, and his students included Gyula Derkovits, Mária Goszthony and Róbert Emil Novotny. Many cultural events are held in the villa and its beautiful garden.
